The Influence of US Policy on the Post-War Development of Western Germany 1945-50

In this bachelor thesis the author focus on the influence of the United States of America on the post-war development of Germany between 1945 and 1950. Concretely in the time from the end of the World War II till the first months after establishing the state of Western Germany. The main goal of this thesis is to find, how the US-American foreign policy, that has started to change in this period, affected the resolving of the question of post-war Germany. The Author proceed from the stance of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who refused the engagement of the U.S. in the post-war economic development of Europe, and who stated, that the U.S. Army will leave the European territory until two years after the end of the WWII. But in the following years the U.S. started to leave this policy to set a new course, which was connected with evolvement of the United States in Europe and western parts of Germany. After the introduction, there will be introduced the American ideas of the post-war world structure, the theory of isolationism and Delano's the concept of "Four Policemen". Al Jazeera versus Al Arabiya

Diploma thesis "al Jazeera versus al Arabiya - Media Rivalry of Qatar and Saudi Ruling Families during the 2006 Lebanon War" deals with domestic Arab satellite channels - Qatar al Jazeera and Saudi al Arabiya - and their way of reporting about the war in Lebanon in 2006. Their news coverage is put into context of rivalry between Qatar and Saudi ruling families. The thesis focuses on wide range of issues including the role of media in foreign policy of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, use of media for securing stability of the ruling regimes and for pursuing their regional influence. Main theoretical concept of the thesis is the Arab media model which enables projection of interests of the ruling families in Qatar and Saudi Arabia into their media.

Justice in International Politics: The International Theory of John Rawls

This bachelor thesis has an ambition to map the issue of international justice, focusing on the theory of international justice by John Rawls. Consequently, this concept of World Order will be applied to two specific case studies. The first case study will deal with the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the second case study will deal with the Russia-Georgian War. The thesis is structured into two main parts. The first part concerns the very concept of international justice. Basic theoretical approaches to looking at international justice will be described in detail. After a closer description of the basic concepts of international justice, the concept of fair war will be briefly mentioned. Subsequently, John Rawls' political theory will be described, and the final subchapter of the first part will deal with the analysis of the international concept of international justice John Rawls. The second part of this bachelor thesis will focus on two selected modern wars and using principles of fair war I will try to decide whether the given wars were fair. Like every historical phenomenon, everything is subject to different interpretations. The doctoral thesis Czechoslovakia, Mexico and Central America 1945-1989 analyses political, economic and cultural relations between that country of the called Iron Curtain and the Mesoamerican countries during the Cold War in the twentieth century. The research is based mainly on unpublished archival materials, mainly of Czech origin. It is also complemented by fewer materials obtained at the Central American countries' official archives. The wider context of international politics is primarily outlined in the introductory chapters, which aims, on one hand, to inform readers about the development of the Czechoslovak diplomacy and foreign policy and how it was influenced by the Soviet Union and, on the other hand, to describe the unstable political situation prevailing then in the Central American countries, which were also under the constant scrutiny of the United States of America. Thereafter, the analysis focuses on the Czechoslovak-Mexican relations, which is thematically divided into political, cultural and economic sections. A special chapter is dedicated to the activities of the Czechoslovak secret service in Mexico, as a country conveniently located near to the United States. Czechslovakia and the Southern Cone 1945-1989

The doctoral thesis Czechoslovakia and the Southern Cone 1945-1989 analyses political, economic and cultural relations between an important country of the Eastern Bloc and three countries of the southernmost area of South America - Argentina, Chile and Uruguay - during the Cold War. The main objective of the thesis is to interpret unpublished Czech and foreign archives. The first chapter outlines Czechoslovak policy towards Latin America in the period under consideration. The following sections describe the relations between Czechoslovakia and the individual countries of the Southern Cone. These chapters are divided according to the nature of relations into political, economic and cultural contacts. Each of these three parts is further divided into subsections which correspond to important milestones of mutual relations. The thesis ends with an interview with Stanislav Svoboda, a senior diplomat of communist Czechoslovakia. His observations shed new light on the archive documents. Without abandoning the effort of presenting foreign researchers with the value of Czech archives, whose importance is further increased by the limited accessibility of Russian archives, the paper attempts to analyse the issue in the broader context of international politics.
